Art and Prayer
How does one communicate when the Spirit has overwhelmed the soul? How does the soul groan when there are no words? Sometimes the best vehicle for communicating is wordless. Art helps us to sit with scattered thoughts, emotions and perspectives. When we offer space to the shy soul, and give ourselves an opportunity to play, experiment, and wonder without judgement then our art-making is prayer. These retreats are times of worship rather than art instruction and no art experience is necessary.
We are surrounded with opportunities to practice resurrection and to experience a taste of the joy in it. Corinthians 2:9-10 says “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him. God has revealed those things by his Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, especially the deep things of God.”
Just trusting that God does what He says He will do, let’s praise and wonder together. This is a worship time and prayer time using art. No art experience is necessary
